1 Corinthians 2:9-12 (NCV)
9 But as it is written in the Scriptures: "No one has ever seen this, and no one has ever heard about it. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." — Isaiah 64:4 10 But God has shown us these things through the Spirit. The Spirit searches out all things, even the deep secrets of God. 11 Who knows the thoughts that another person has? Only a person's spirit that lives within him knows his thoughts. It is the same with God. No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we did not receive the spirit of the world, but we received the Spirit that is from God so that we can know all that God has given us. Ephesians 3:6-12 (New International Reader's Version)
6 Here is the mystery. Because of the good news, God's promises are for non-Jews as well as for Jews. Both groups are parts of one body. They share in the promise. It belongs to them because they belong to Christ Jesus. 7 I now serve the good news because God gave me his grace. His power is at work in me. 8 I am by far the least important of all of God's people. But he gave me the grace to preach to the non-Jews about the wonderful riches that Christ gives. 9 God told me to make clear to everyone how the mystery came about. In times past it was kept hidden in the mind of God, who created all things. 10 He wanted the rulers and authorities in the heavenly world to come to know his great wisdom. The church would make it known to them. 11 That was God's plan from the beginning. He has worked it out through Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Through him and through faith in him we can approach God. We can come to him freely. We can come without fear. Psalm 146:6-8 (NIRV)
6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth and the ocean. He made everything in them. The Lord remains faithful forever. 7 He stands up for those who are beaten down. He gives food to hungry people. The Lord sets prisoners free. 8 The Lord gives sight to those who are blind. The Lord lifts up those who feel helpless. The Lord loves those who do what is right. Psalm 33:13-15 (NCV)
13 The Lord looks down from heaven and sees every person. 14 From his throne he watches all who live on earth. 15 He made their hearts and understands everything they do. Psalm 121 (New International Reader's Version)
1 I look up to the hills. Where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord. He is the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He won't let your foot slip. He who watches over you won't get tired. 4 In fact, he who watches over Israel won't get tired or go to sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you. The Lord is like a shade tree at your right hand. 6 The sun won't harm you during the day. The moon won't harm you during the night. 7 The Lord will keep you from every kind of harm. He will watch over your life. 8 The Lord will watch over your life no matter where you go, both now and forever. Psalm 139:1-18 (New Living Translation)
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. 5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! 7 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! 8 If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. 9 If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, 10 even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. 11 I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night-- 12 but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. 13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. 17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! 18 I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand And when I wake up, you are still with me! Psalm 103:12-14 (NIRV)
12 He has removed our lawless acts from us as far as the east is from the west. 13 A father is tender and kind to his children. In the same way, the Lord is tender and kind to those who have respect for him. 14 He knows what we are made of. He remembers that we are dust. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 (NIRV)
14 But I want you to continue to follow what you have learned. Don't give up what you are sure of. You know the people you learned it from. 15 You have known the Holy Scriptures ever since you were a little child. They are able to teach you how to be saved by believing in Christ Jesus. 16 God has breathed life into all of Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right. 17 By using Scripture, a man of God can be completely prepared to do every good thing. Acts 17:24-28 (New International Reader's Version)
24 "He is the God who made the world. He also made everything in it. He is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn't live in temples built by hands. 25 He is not served by human hands. He doesn't need anything. He himself gives life and breath to all people. He also gives them everything else they have. 26 From one man he made all the people of the world. Now they live all over the earth. He decided exactly when they should live. And he decided exactly where they should live. 27 God did this so that people would seek him. Then perhaps they would reach out for him and find him. They would find him even though he is not far from any of us. 28 'In him we live and move and exist.' As some of your own poets have also said, 'We are his children.' |
